10 Second Eyeshadow? Yes please! That’s what I thought when I first saw this new release from Kosas. Truthfully, after seeing all the colours in person, I wanted to buy at least 3 but … this year is the year of less spending! I settled on Globe, a shade they describe as a neutral champagne.
I have noticed Kosas a lot, but this is my first purchase. They are free from propylene glycol, phenoxyethanol, synthetic fragrance, parabens, phthalates, gluten & animal testing. They also don’t sell in Mainland China (where animal testing is required).
The expiry for each eyeshadow is 12 months after opening. They cost $28.00 USD and $45.00 AUD for 0.15 oz or 4.5g. As far as I know Mecca Cosmetica are the only physical stockists in Australia, which is where I first swatched these.
While this is vegan, not all their products are, so I’d double check before purchasing other products. It has the slightest smell, I believe it’s the orange extract. I find it smells a little off? I honestly can’t describe it very well, but luckily it’s not strong and it disappears quickly. Also, be very careful when opening and using this. The formula is very watery and there is no stopper on the tube. I keep mine upright at all times (except during this photoshoot!)
I’ve found that I prefer to swipe the doe foot applicator directly on my eyelid, and then use a crease brush to diffuse the colour. If I try to blend it out with my finger, it just ends up stuck on the tip, instead of blending properly.
I do love the colour, but I wish it was slightly less pink based, especially because of my yellow undertone. It swatches as a metallic champagne pink, with some serious shimmer. It’s much bolder than I’m used to wearing, though I must admit I’ve wanted a sparkly eyeshadow topper for a while. The formula dries down really well and doesn’t crease on me, as long I’ve applied it to bare, dry skin. Over too much foundation it does crease (but that’s the fault of the cream foundation and my oily eyelids).
I was drawn to these because I love the idea of a one and done shimmery eye that takes seconds. That said, this formula takes a little experimenting to get the hang of. Once you’ve figured it out though, it’s a great product, for different uses. I love using it as a pop of sparkle on the centre of my lid and an all over colour. It wears best on bare eyelids, so I don’t think you need to do a full glam makeup prep.
However, if glitter is not your preference, they’re probably not the best choice. All of their shades are packed with shimmer & chunkier glitter. I actually hope they come out with more shades. It took a little trial and error, but I like the effect and I’m definitely glad I took the plunge.
