Lepaar Skincare Review – Cleansing Oil, Eye Balm & Evening Balsam

It’s been a long time coming, but this should be the last review for Lepaar for a while. Quite a few of their day time offerings have settled nicely into my routine, so I thought it time to try their night time offerings. In my last order, I also received a full size of the Revive Deep Cleansing Oil. I’ve been wanting to try this for ages. I’m a big believer in doing a first cleanse with oil or balm and this one sounds so luxurious.

This is one of those skincare steps that feels special and needs to be saved. I normally only use this for days that I wear makeup, or if I’ve been outside a lot. It truly is a lightweight and silky oil that’s perfect for your first cleanse.

I only need a few pumps to massage into my entire face, paying close attention to any areas with enlarged pores. I slowly add more water to emusify it and after a soothing massage, I’m eventually I’m left with cleansed skin that feels soft to the touch. I always follow with a cream cleanser because it does leave an oily film & my toners are water based. It’s not that I dislike the feeling. In fact I’d be happy to apply my serums on top, rather the Okoko Cosmétiques toners are an essential step, so I like to ensure they have the best chance of working!

This golden balsam is speckled with vanilla and has an almost goopy texture, that does smooth out without any grit once it’s applied. It smells amazing; soft vanilla with a touch of sweet honey and subtle earthiness. This is one of the few vanilla fragrances I can tolerate.

I don’t like the finish of this as much as a balm. It’s lighter, but a little wet and sticky if you apply too much. I can’t explain it very well. This is coming from someone who slathers a thick, honey based balm on her face, so keep that in mind. In terms of how it works for my skin, I honestly find that my skin responds better to the Velvet Lip Sole. If I can use this consecutively for at least a week, there is a difference with plumper skin and smoothed fine lines.

The only issue is that I have found that I’ve had to stop and restart using this. There are times it affects my sensitive skin, especially if it’s been sensitized by something else. I’ve had a few smaller bumps turn up, ones that don’t normally occur and the only different product I’m using is this.

The Eye balm is firmer, a true balm in my opinion. It’s a light golden colour, without any heavy fragrances. There are micro doses of essential oils in here. Once my skin barrier is normal, my skin tolerates this. It has on occasion bothered me if it’s been compromised, but that’s only when my skin is inflamed to the point where I can only use my bare minimum basics.

Of all my skin concerns, my under eyes haven’t really been one them. Even though the Wabi Sabi Light Reveal lightened a lot of the darkness there, some still remains moreso on the inner corners. It’s not an issue to me perse. I’m much more focused on my melasma and acne scars.

Eye balms can also annoy me too because they often end up in my eyes overnight. There is also the argument to be had if they are truly necessary, especially if you’re already using a nourishing moisturiser.

While this is a balm, it is lovely and light. You only need a tiny amount. It is a deeply hydrating balm. Once I’ve used this for a minimum of a week, I do find that it smooths out texture around my eyes, especially the inner corners. I didn’t know one could have texture in the inner corners, but hey mine is gone and I’m not complaining. The skin itself doesn’t feel as thin and fragile anymore. It makes concealing there look more seamless, while also minimizing creasing. My lower lashes are much fuller and longer than they’ve ever been. A pleasing bonus!

Final Word

I can’t promise that’s the last time you’ll see Lepaar on my blog, but I’m hoping you can get a sense of why I love this company and their skincare. Out of these three, I’m surprisingly most pleased with the item I don’t deem a necessity. A second of silence for my under eyes, while they may alway have darkness there, at least they’ll be hydrated!
