Have you been trawling the internet for unscented, natural and low waste or no waste deodorant options? I have!
Supermarket deodorant has not been a staple in my morning routine for a long time now. While body odour can be a cause of embarassment for a lot of people, for others it’s actually the synthetic fragrance that causes more issues.
I have never had a huge issue with excessive sweat so that isn’t my primary concern. That doesn’t mean I don’t experience body odour! People normally use fragrance because they want to smell nice, but it is also used to mask other scents. I would prefer to stop the body odour from forming, rather than stopping natural perspiration.
I’ve been using a roll-on one from Body Crystal. I personally find it works really well at minimizing odour, but I am interested in buying and creating less waste so I’ve been searching for some low or no waste deodorants. Coupled with my preference for more natural ingredients, I have found it can be difficult to find truly unscented deodorants.
Natural Deodorant Wish List
- Unscented formula – no essential oils or artificial fragrance
- My skin tolerates bicarb soda, but I’ll include bicarb free options
- Compostable, refillable or reusable packaging. At the very least I’m not including any plastic packaging
- No aluminium – aluminum chlorohydrate, aluminum chloride, aluminum hydroxybromide or aluminum zirconium
Once I had my wishlist established, I found my next challenge. I have been checking each brand’s product page, only to find many of their deodorants are scented. So instead of continuing that, I thought I’d put together a comprehensive list to save you and me some time! Many of these brands do make scented versions, so if fragrance isn’t an issue for you they may have other options for you.
