Facetheory Skincare Review – C1, T2, M3, N20 & B2

I’m back with more skincare! I have already reviewed Facetheory, but I enjoyed them so much I wanted to try more. I really like that Facetheory offer simple, paired back formulations that focus on skincare staples. I think they’re a great brand for starting a skincare routine, while still offering heavy duty items for those who are more experienced when it comes to taking care of their skin.

I would describe my husband’s skin as unfairly soft, smooth and clear despite the complete lack of a routine. He barely washes his face in the shower, unless he’s used sunscreen during the day. He did have bad breakouts when we were first together, but that’s cleared up. Back then he used Proactive and it worked, but I was worried about it stripping his skin. He’s not used to thinking about skincare in the way that I do, but he helped me out by trying some products I thought could form a minimal skincare routine.

I like the texture, it’s really soft and smooth. I don’t like that it leaves a very slight film after one rinse. I feel that you need to rinse at least a few times to properly clear it from your skin. That said, it you prefer a creamier cleanser, not one that lathers too much, then it’s a nice one. I don’t think it’s great for makeup. I also don’t think it’s great for a super quick wash, just because it does take a little extra care to make sure your skin is clean from the residue.

Green-C Sensitive Skin Toner T2

Green-C Rebalancing Toner T2. Review. Organic & Natural Beauty Blogger. Gone Swatching xo

Ingredients

Green-C Rebalancing Toner T2 Review & Ingredients. Chamomile extract, green tea, lactic acid, niacinamide & vitamin c. Gone Swatching xo

I had to stop using this as it gave me little pimples, ones that popped up in weird random places. I know my husband doesn’t have any issues, either with it causing breakouts or the texture and smell.  I chose it for him because I know their formulas are gentle and easy to apply. They also don’t sit on top of the skin, or create a thick film, which would definitely deter Jarrod from using it. He hasn’t complained about how it feels on his skin. I can use their Collodial-C Anti-Redness toner, so I would just repurchase that one next time.

Supergel Oil-Free Moisturiser M3

Supergel Oil-Free Moisturiser M3 Review. Niacinamide, green tea, vitamin c, hyaluronic acid & aloe vera. Gone Swatching xo

Ingredients

Supergel Oil-Free Moisturiser M3 Review. For combination, oily skin to relieve congestion without blocking pores. Gone Swatching xo

The main reason I bought this was because Jarrod hates feeling product on his face, so I hoped it would be perfect for him. He has never commented that he dislikes the texture and never looks oily when he wears it. For me, this texture would only work in the peak of summer. My skin really loves oil and I notice the difference if I go without. I think it’s good for days that you need a moisturiser, but don’t need the shine. I just can’t think of instances where a shiny face bothers me enough to need a moisturiser like this.

So while these products are less suitable for me, let’s see what my husband thinks!

Straight after his first use, he didn’t really notice a difference. The first time he used a full routine, was the night after a three day occupation, during winter, so it’s normally fairly battered afterwards. The day after he used them, he noticed his skin felt softer and nicer from the previous night. He thought that his skin felt balanced. Two new little pimples came up, but it wasn’t possible to say whether they were due to the new products or from other causes. The three products didn’t strip his skin as much as Proactive. He didn’t have the same tight feeling after cleansing. He never notices the toner or moisturiser on his skin, they both just sink in.

Overall he didn’t think the Facetheory products cleared his pores in one go, it took about a week, but he definitely likes that they’re more gentle than Proactive.

I personally know that Jarrod uses the toner and moisturiser much more consistently than the cleanser. He doesn’t feel that he needs to use them everyday because they are nourishing enough to benefit his skin, without developing a dependence on them. He noticed that when he stopped used Proactive, he had to start again straight away because his skin started feeling bad again. He would definitely repurchase (or ask me to repurchase)!

So with our thoughts on those three products out of the way, let me now talk about some extras I picked up for myself.

Porebright Serum N20 Pro

Ingredients

Porebright Serum Pro N20 Review & Ingredients. Aloe Vera, azelaic acid, niacinamide & sodium hyaluronate. Gone Swatching xo

Unfortunately the Azelaic acid in in this formula bothers me. I find that I can use it once off, maybe once or twice a week, but any more than that it starts to irritate my skin. It also doesn’t really seem to miss not having one of these serums in the routine. I do think that having a water based serum is beneficial, I have just used better ones. If it didn’t irritate me, then this would be perfect. It’s not sticky, it doesn’t pill or feel thick. This one just doesn’t work for me.

Cera-B Body Cream B2

I found that this was great at nourishing and moisturising over at least a full day, without feeling too thick or oily. Many full body moisturisers can feel tacky and like it’s sitting on top, but this definitely doesn’t. It’s actually deceiving in how light it is, but keeps your skin properly moisturised. I definitely like it, and I would probably repurchase, but more as an addition to an existing order. I don’t find myself rushing out, needing to repurchase because my skin is missing it, but I do take a lot less care with my body

Final Word

Encouraging my husband to use skincare is a little task in itself, but at least Facetheory offers user friendly, simple and gentle formulations. I think all the formulas are easy to work with and wear even if you haven’t used skincare before. Jarrod has never complained about the smell, the feel or consistency of any of the products and he’s someone who can be very easily put off. He doesn’t use them consistently, but that’s more because he hasn’t formed that habit. He believes that overall the softness of his skin has improved and he has less breakouts. While I love doing my skincare daily, it definitely suits him to not have to rely on a consistent routine. He’s glad that they make a noticeable difference without having to apply every day.

As someone who is quite a bit more experienced, I still like that their formulations are simple and focused on core ingredients. There are plenty of ingredients that I still want to try and I will be able to because they also avoid many other ingredients I avoid. For my next purchase, I definitely want to try more of their chemical exfoliants!
