Packaging:

The moment this white lipstick slid out of the box and into my hand, the plastic felt sturdy and of high quality. The rectangle is kept sleek, with rounded corners and their logo printed on the side of the lid. The shade name is on a sticker at the bottom. When you pull off the top, it exposes the silver lipstick holder, with an image of a naked women.

Texture:

This is a creamy formula, that is slightly heavier than other lipsticks I’ve tried. There is a slight, sweet floral scent. I find that it sometimes bothers me, but at least it isn’t artificial or a lingering scent.

Application:

Application is easy straight from the tube. The formula is forgiving enough and does not stain if you accidentally apply outside the lip line.

Opacity:

The first swatch has good, medium opacity. With little effort the lipstick applies to a full opacity, that is more of a satin finish than a true matte.

Swatches:

27 Dresses, Naked, Bittersweet & Fairy Tales

Fairy Tales

I already had it in my mind that I would not like this colour as I thought it would be too light. As long as I don’t apply this too heavily, the colour works for my skin tone. It’s a bright, peachy pink that doesn’t wash me out. In some light it does appear a little neon.

I also found that this didn’t apply as smoothly as the other shades. It skipped a bit over my lips and took more work to make it even.

27 Dresses

27 Dresses applies much brighter and pinker than I would assume looking at the bullet. It applies evenly in one swipe. I think I will mix this with Naked because I would like it to be a little more of a muted nude.

Naked

From seeing other swatches on the internet, I thought this colour was much better suited to lighter skin tones. It borders on being too light for my skin. Honestly, it’s not my favourite colour from the range. It’s barely detectable but there is gold micro shimmer in this formula. The shimmer is meant to give your lips dimension but the colour itself is too light and flattens my features. I think this would be excellent to use over the top of the other shades to tone them down, and that’s exactly what I plan to do.

Bittersweet

This looks quite dark and red in the tube, but the orange comes through quite a bit on application. On first application, it’s not completely opaque and it takes another swipe or two to achieve full coverage. On my lips, it transforms into a burnt, orange red.

PROS:

  • Opaque, full coverage lipstick
  • Excellent ingredients
  • Scent does not linger
  • Colours can be layered
  • Packaging is classy, well made and sturdy
  • Moisturizing

CONS:

  • Formula feels a little heavy when you layer
  • Not completely unscented
  • Expensive
  • Not all the shades are carmine free

Final Word:

I’ve read such great reviews on 27 Kisses that I found it odd that that wasn’t the one that I liked the most. I find myself wanting to tweak it with Naked, so it’s not quite so pink. Naked is the perfect one to use for altering the the other shades, so I am glad I bought it.

Bittersweet is by far my favourite shade and I even prefer Fairy Tales over 27 Kisses.

The only thing I don’t enjoy about the formula, is that it sits heavy on the lips if too much is applied. I do find that achieving an even layer takes more product, so that’s another aspect I have to experiment with.

The packaging and creamy colours do make this feel like a luxurious treat. It is a special product, with a lot of thought into clean, pure ingredients.
