Kjaer Weis Lipgloss Review & Swatches – Courage & Fascination

I thought I wasn’t going to review the Kjaer Weis lipgloss, as I’m not a gloss fan. I then found out that one shade, Courage is the only with carmine so I thought I’d give it a try. One of my favourite colours from Kjaer Weis is Desired Glow and Joyful and even though they’re blushes, I love them as a lip colour. They dry a little powdery though, which is fine for windy days but I wanted to try their gloss for when I need that extra touch.

The color Courage uses the same formulation as other Kjaer Weis Lip Glosses, but also contain small amounts of artificial pigment and is not certified organic. Fascination does contain carmine. The good news is these artificial pigments account for less than 1% of the total product formula. It’s $55.00 AUD for the full product, while the refill costs only $43.00 AUD. They last 30 months before being opened and 12 months after being opened. For those in the US, they are $38.00 USD and $30.00 USD respectively.

Kjaer Weis pride themselves with their recyclable eco-friendly packaging and this lipgloss seems a touch less eco-friendly as the tube is very high quality plastic, but plastic none the less. The lid is beautifully designed, with a removable doe foot applicator.

This has light opacity but a beautifully smooth formula. It definitely has enough pigment to alter any colour you top. I definitely prefer this formula for a gloss, it feels balmier than a traditional slick gloss.

Courage

A bright pop of mood-lifting coral gloss

On me, it comes across more as a baby pink. It can look a little too pastel on it’s own in some light, so I like to use it more to lighten darker lip colours.

Fascination

A faded raspberry red gloss

I have found that I love these faded, light red shades. This one works so well at giving my lips that boost of colour without making me look too done up. It has some micro-shimmer in it but it can’t be seen once it’s on.

Final Word:

In terms of texture & feel, I much prefer the feel of a balmy gloss, rather than a slick one. Since it’s been quite some time since I’ve worn gloss, I can’t really tell whether this wears better than others. It certainly won’t last through meals, but you can feel that your lips are left feeling more supple and cared for afterwards. I also wish the colour Courage was a touch darker, at least for my skin tone. That said Fascination is perfect, unless you don’t like carmine. If I’m being honest, I definitely reach for other products from Kjaer Weis more than this. That said if gloss is something you love, this is a great splurge for the packaging alone.
