I’ve been looking forward to my wedding ever since my partner and I proposed to each other in 2019. It’s looking likely we may have to postpone again, but for now I’m pretending that everything is going ahead! This post is a way for me to track my own thoughts when it comes to the makeup I want for the day.
The Perfect Base
I don’t want matte or dewy skin. I want the perfect balance, with foundation that looks like skin but with enough coverage to even out my melasma. This probably means I’ll be sticking with the Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation, as this has the ability to be sheered out. The only issue I might come across is that it can look much more obvious when layered. I’m still practising on the best application to minimize that.

Blush
I already know I love these two colours, Desired Glow & Joyful from Kjaer Weis, so an easy choice! I often lay down a thin, sheer layer of Desired Glow because it’s much softer, but then use Joyful as a pop of warmth.

Bronzer
I am undecided, because I don’t really like bronzer to be completely honest. If I do end up with one, it’ll probably have to be a powder, without any sheen or shimmer. I also prefer lighter shades, which don’t lean too red or orange. Otherwise, and this is just thinking out loud, using a darker shade of the Kjaer Weis Foundation might be a better option. It’ll give me coverage, but also depth of colour without any orange (I already have Velvety, which is too dark for me).
Options:
Kjaer Weis Powder Bronzer in Revel
Ere Perez Rice Powder Blush & Bronzer in Roma
Kjaer Weis Foundation in Illusion or Velvety
Highlighter
It’s likely I’d use highlighter very sparingly. The best option would be a powder one, but again, I could actually skip highlighter and I wouldn’t be fussed. The main reason I’d still like a highlighter is to use it as a topper to any eyeshadow look and on the inner corner of my eyes.
Options:
Kjaer Weis Powder Highlighter in Luminous
Aether Beauty in Supernova Crushed Pink Diamond Highlighter or Pure Diamond
Finishing Powder
I will definitely need a setting powder. I tend to powder the middle of my face, especially my forehead and cheeks. The issue is that I need an effective one, without flashback. I’ll also need it for touch ups. I have not found one that I enjoy yet, so this will be trial and error.

Eyes
I have decided I definitely want to use the Kjaer Weis eyeshadows, just based on how seamless and skin like they appear. I want to emphasize my eyes, without making them smaller or too made up. That means no heavy application, super smoky blacks or heavy eyeliner! I love natural colours, but I haven’t decided on cool neutral or more warm tones. I’m also drawn to a shimmery topper. I haven’t decided on the exact look I want, but ideally it would be softer neutrals with a brightening, glimmery topper.
I’m set on:
Cool Neutral: Kjaer Weis Eyeshadows in Charmed, Grace & Generosity.
Warm Neutral: Kjaer Weis Eyeshadows Magnetic & Earthy Calm
I need to decide on: a shimmery topper.

Mascara
I’m undecided on the best eyelash options. I know full well I’m going to cry & the best mascara I’ve found isn’t 100% smudgeproof, even on normal days. It does hold a curl, but makes my lashes a touch stiff. This is the Ere Perez waterproof mascara. What I want is long, fluttery lashes, without too much mascara at all. I have never had eyelash extensions, but they’re probably my best bet (to avoid smudges). However I have had issues with eye glue, so definitely something I’m worried about.
Options:
Ere Perez Avocado Waterproof Eyeshadow
Lash extensions or fake lashes
Lips
My choices for lips range from warm nudes, to faded reds. Warm nudes suit me better, especially since I’m not choosing heavy eye makeup to balance it out. That said, my actual preference would be a faded warm red, because I just love how they look on me. Of course if it clashes with my choice of eyeshadow I’ll fall back to a warm nude.
I already have their gloss in Fascination & it’s that shade I’m going for. For longevity though, I’d prefer the drier, matte Kjaer Weis lipstick formulation. That formula is beautifully long lasting and if I need a bit of gloss, then I already have the perfect match.
I’m thinking about:
Kjaer Weis Lipstick in Affection
Kjaer Weis Lip Gloss in Fascination
I’ve since bought the shade Affection and it looks like such a nice colour, but it’s not a close match to the lipgloss Fascination. It comes across as a bit brighter and even a touch purple because of my lip tone. I’m going to have to rethink what colour is better suited to what I’m after. I may even mix a couple.

Ilia Beauty Multi-stick in Lady Bird + All of Me
Adorn Cosmetics Classic Mineral Lipstick in Natural Red
Nail Polish
I don’t know if I’ll be doing nail art (or at least super technical nail art), but I do want polished nails. My ideal nail art would probably be something simple, maybe abstract or negative space using nude pinks and rose gold. I already have the shade Lavender Blush from Carlo Rista, which is a lovely light, translucent pink. Otherwise Haley or Anzu from Nailmatic are perfect.
Options include:
House of Gruzlewski in Bells Beach, Rainbow Beach, Palm Beach
Nailmatic Aqua Nail in Anzu or Haley
My final step is to trial a few makeup looks to see what I’m happiest with. I’m looking forward to experimenting with some of my favourite makeup brands!
