After trying the liquid eyeshadows from Kosas, I found myself really wanting some more. I stumbled upon these Bio Metal eyeshadows from Crop Natural a while ago, but it wasn’t until this year that I took the plunge.
The Bio Metal eyeshadows are described an an ultra-saturated, metal finish liquid eyeshadow without the creasing and fall out of traditional powder eyeshadow.
It’s $26.00 USD for 0.8fl oz/2.5g or $28.00 AUD. If you’re looking for a bargain, head over to Nourished Life because they’re currently 50% off.
Ingredients
The Crop Natural bio metal eyeshadows are cosmos organic, with 37.79% organic ingredients. They are cruelty free and vegan. It has a slight orange or citrus smell, but it’s very light and goes away almost immediately. The only ingredient of concern would be the talc as it can be an irritant to some.
They’re not completely smooth since the shimmer can feel a little gritty, but you won’t notice it if you apply thin layers. I find it best to apply to one eye at a time. It dries very quickly and once it’s set, it’s harder to blend and can end up looking patchy. They layer very well but I prefer to keep them sheer. Sheering them out allows for the micro shimmer to really shine.
You can layer them but I don’t like going over two layers as they can begin to feel a bit chunky and noticeable. For my oily eyelids, they’re not crease proof. If I have them layered over foundation they crease. However if I keep them sheer and applied to bare skin they have a better chance of staying put.
Swatches
Moonlight, Gilded, Saturn & Halo
Moonlight
Moonlight has the chunkiest glitter specks and shows up as a cool silver when it’s layered. I actually prefer to tap a little extra over the top of something else. It sheers out to be a sparkly topper and doesn’t look as stark.
Gilded
A muted gold that probably has the least glitter of all the shades. It’s much more of a smooth micro glitter.
Saturn
I love that this sheers out to be a light pink, scattered with a few different coloured micas. This one can get a little patchy when you try to layer it and it does end up quite dark.
Halo
While I have it applied heavily here, this dark brown shade has such depth, even when it’s sheered out. You can really notice the purple and gold reflects hidden in the dark brown.
Final Word
I am honestly very happy with these liquid eyeshadows from Crop Natural. They really satisfy my desire for shimmery shadow, either as a sheer wash or a topper. As long as you’re quick, they’re easy to use. I find them easier to use than the original Kosas 10 Second Eyeshadow (they’ve since been updated and I’ve seen mixed reviews).
These are not as watery and that means you don’t have to be as careful when using applicator. You also don’t have to keep these stored upright as they don’t leak. While they both have orange extract, the Bio Metal Eyeshadows don’t smell as strong as Kosas and it hasn’t started to smell off either.
Though I’m not sure if I would pay full price for them, they’re kind of a steal if you can buy them on sale. I really like when they’re applied sheerly. It gives a really pretty effect that isn’t too full on. I’m surprised that I like all the shades, especially Halo.
