Nu Evolution Complete Coverage Foundation Review & Swatches – 101, 102, 103, 106 & 107

Mineral makeup has been my staple foundation for over 5 years. I honestly didn’t feel I needed any other foundation as it worked perfectly for me. Now that my skin has changed, I have been wanting to find a foundation that works better. I have actually found one I loved at first try but that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop testing more.

I’ve just finished going through Nu Evolution’s lipstick range and now it’s time to test their foundation. They have 3 foundation options, but this post is for their Complete Coverage Foundation.

Nu Evolution Complete Coverage Foundation Review and Swatches - 101, 102, 103, 106 and 107. Gone Swatching xo

Medium to Full coverage liquid foundation. The finish looks like skin vs. the usual “cakey” mask of other full coverage foundations

Pricing:

$47.00 USD or $72.95 AUD.

Scent:

This doesn’t have any scent so that’s a huge bonus.

Texture:

It’s not thin and watery formula but it’s also not thick and creamy. Think of a lighter day cream, rather than a night cream I guess.

Application:

Once you put this on your face it starts to dry, so you can’t be too slow. They say you can blend it with your fingers but I think it needs a little buffing and working into the skin. Any type of densely packed blending brush or a beauty blender would work better than bare fingers.

Opacity:

This gives you light to medium coverage with a small amount. It layers so well though, so you can easily buff more in the achieve higher coverage. I don’t think it’s full coverage, but it sure ends up as a medium to full.

Colours Purchased: 101, 102, 103, 106 & 107

107 was the best match for my skintone, which is described as sand coloured with yellow undertones for medium skin tones.

I was really surprised that I liked this as much as I do because it takes a little more work to buff in. It applied and wore best when I moisturised with my facial oil and not my normal day cream. You also have to be careful that you don’t wait too long. I could dot it over my face and then start buffing in the product before it dried out too much, but once it’s dry, it stays put. The finish is matte and a really nice, soft powdery matte not a tight and dry matte. The reason I think it takes more work is because it applies better in light layers, rather than dolloping on a huge blob. I could feel it on my skin when I used too much at once. While I could feel it if I applied too much at once, it never gathered in my problem areas. I also really like that the finish still looks like skin rather than sitting on top. The formula itself is actually very well suited to my skin type because I have oily skin. I can wear it all day without ending up too slick.

PROS:

  • Good, clean ingredients
  • No scent
  • Good coverage
  • Matte finish
  • It doesn’t look thick or cakey

CONS:

  • Their shade range is centred on the light to medium skin tones, with more yellow undertones. They have two darker shades (that still isn’t a huge selection) but no shades for the palest of skin
  • The matte finish might not suit everyone.

Final Word:

This suits my skin type, I really like the finish and it doesn’t break me out, so all in all, it’s a winner for me. It’s a winner as long as my skin is in good condition and moisturised well. I think this might be a summer option as I normally end up a complete grease ball at the end of the day. For winter though my skin ends up very dry and textured so I have another foundation I prefer.

The biggest problem would be price. If you need a concealer you’d have to consider the price of that added to this already steep price. I personally don’t use concealer, as I find that this gives me enough coverage under the eyes and any redness.

If your skin is very dry though, I’d consider a different foundation. This is more forgiving than the Gressa Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation, but even while the Fitglow foundation isn’t my favourite, it gives a dewier finish and would cover dryness better.
