Fitglow Beauty Review – Vita Set Setting Powder, Night Lip Serum, Brow Gel & Eyeliner

Fitglow are one of the brands I tend to keep my eyes one, mostly because I’ve heard so much hype over their Lip Serums and they release new products quite often. Their makeup range is often packed full with skincare ingredients designed to protect, nourish and improve skin.

I picked up a few of their items I’ve been wanting to try during a sale at Beauty Heroes. I chose the Vita Set + Perfect setting powder, the Plant Protein brow gel and the Night Lip serum. The Vegan Eyeliner pencil was a gift with purchase.

Gingko leaf powder is full of antioxidants for protection againsts free radicals, which plant peptides strengthen and firm your skin barrier. It’s meant to give an airbrush finish to makeup with only a hint of colour.

I’ve noticed that this product is no longer available directly from Fitglow but some of their stockists still have some in stock. They don’t often bring back products so if you want it, I’d probably buy it sooner than later.

I have wanted a nice mineral powder finishing powder for a little while so I thought why not give this a go. You can buy this as a refillable brush but I didn’t think I needed it. I chose the shade medium and as long as I apply it as intended, a setting powder it works for my skin tone. I have tried applying it heavier and it ends up a little dark for me. The amount that you receive for the price is a little high.

Overall it unfortunately doesn’t really mattify my skin enough, especially if I use it over my typical skincare and makeup routine. I don’t mind applying it softly over my bare minimum skincare routine for a touch of colour and very slight evening out. It doesn’t end up matte but it works for a little extra coverage.

Night Lip Serum / $48.00 USD – $79.95 AUD for 10g

The Night Lip serum is rich with plant ceramides for restoring your lip moisture barrier, and pomegranate sterols, beet extract and vegan collagen for improving lip cell structure, increase lip volume and improve fine lines. It is recommended to finish the product within 6 months after opening.

I have heard nothing but good things about the Night Lip serum. Furthermore it’s so popular that they’ve released numerous colours for every day wear as well.

This has a slightly thicker, balmy lipgloss texture. It feels very nice and plush without being thick, goopy or sticky. I personally don’t like the strong vanilla scent but it does go away luckily. I don’t actually use this at night time, as intended. I like to apply it before I start my makeup and then add a touch of lipstick over the top as a finishing touch. It helps make my lips look extra plump and smooth. The gloss will wear off quite easily over the course of a few hours but it’s thick enough to leave lips feeling balmy and moisturized. If I had to pick one over the other, I’d actually stick with the Okoko Cosmétiques Lip serum as that fixes my dry lips overnight. I prefer using this as a lip prep as it doesn’t fix dry patches as well as the Okoko one but it’s great for smoothing over dryness and fine lines before lipstick.

Plant Protein Brow Gel in Clear / $28.00 USD – $44.95 AUD for 4g

Ingredients

This is one of the first, if only plant-based fibre brow gel I’ve ever heard of. It is a nutrient rich and conditioning formula which is supposed to boost brows with extracts of bamboo, lupine protein and horsetail plant (silica). It has a shelf life of up to 6 months once opened.

This Brow Gel in Clear isn’t actually clear. It looks a little cloudy but once it’s dried and set you can’t see it. I like that the formula is not too wet or shiny but it does set my brows very well. It’s not sticky enough for me to do the latest brushed up, fluffy brow trend but my brows are quite thick so I look crazy with them like that. I have noticed though that it’s starting to dry out and look a little crumbly so you need to make sure you swirl the applicator well. They have four different other colours but I don’t like to use too much on my brows because of the aforementioned crazy appearance.

Vegan Eyeliner Pencil in Starlight /  $24.00 USD – $39.95 AUD for 1.1g

The eyepencil has nourishing oils such as mango seed, meadowfoam and cloudberry. They claim it’s a long wearing, natural and vegan formula. Once opened they recommend using within 6 months. I don’t know about you but I have never finished an eye pencil, ever! This one also seems longer than most, with about 1.1 grams of product.

I wouldn’t have personally chosen an eyeliner pencil for myself, especially in this particular colour but it was a gift with purchase. Starlight is a muted silvery grey, almost purple shade. It’s a little stiff and hard to swatch, so if you want full opacity you’ll need a few swipes. The formula is easily blended though and you can smudge it with the included brush head.

Final Word

That’s it for my review of Fitglow beauty. Out of all the items I tried, I like the lip serum and the eyebrow gel the most. I don’t think I’d have to repurchase the lip serum for a while as it appears to last a while. It hasn’t hit it’s expiration yet so I can’t comment on whether it lasts beyond that, just because 6 months is quite a short time to finish a product. The eyebrow gel on the other hand seems to dry out to the point where it affects the formula. If you don’t use it often enough I can see it being unusable too quickly but it’s still working well enough for me.
