Following on from my Makeup & Skincare Bin 2019, this is my list of the all the organic and natural lipsticks that didn’t suit me this year.
The more I try, the more I love colour on me! Of course everyone has their preference, but light or neon tones aren’t my favourite. I could wear neon if I had the confidence but pastel just doesn’t work on me. It’s the main reason why I started this blog though, to show that not all colours are universal.Of course this isn’t a bad thing, but if you have an eye on a shade and you’re curious whether it’ll suit you, then maybe this will help you with that final decision!
These are all my own opinions! None of these are terrible colours, in fact I’d love to wear them. I also want to point out that some these colours photograph well because I have a good natural light source, quality camera and I also pick the most flattering photos.
Ere Perez Carrot Colour Pot – Harmony
The carrot colour pots pack punch in terms of pigment! They’re so creamy and smooth. I found that all the colours apply evenly, though it’s best to apply more and then blot. This shade, Harmony is just not for me. I like the colour, but ultimately it leaves me looking washed out.
Ere Perez Olive Oil Lipstick – Picnic
I love coral, but this just swatched a little too neon and too light for my liking. The formula isn’t forgiving on my dry lips either, so make sure you exfoliate!
Noyah Lipstick – Wink & Smoke
First of all the formula of Noyah lipsticks are one of my favourites. They’re creamy, opaque without feeling heavy or tacky. Wink looks pretty, but because my lips are so dark, it looks odd on me. Smoke on the other hand is an amazing shade of grey with a hint of lavender, that I wish I could figure out how to wear!
RMS Beauty Wild with Desire – Unbridled Passion & Vogue Rose
I found that Unbridled Passion didn’t suit me at all and Vogue Rose sat on top of my lips. It looked too bright, even though it’s a soft colour. I also disliked the formula of these. They’re much heavier than the Lip2Cheek and they feel a little dry. I saw somewhere that they’re meant to be dabbed on, but with the formula being as it is, I would want a balm.
100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Cocoa Butter Matte Lipstick – Strawberry Cactus
I think I’ve mentioned the sensitivity issues with these lipsticks enough, but aside from that, I just don’t think this hot pink is particularly flattering on me. It’s one of those shades that just kind of sits on top of my lips.
Ilia Beauty Tinted Lip Conditioner – Hold Me Now
Hold Me Now is much better suited to anyone with fair to light skin tones, perhaps also with cool undertones. The formula of the Tinted Lip Conditioners is very nice though, so they’re a great option in the shades I do like.
Ilia Beauty Multi-Stick – Tenderly & I Put a Spell on You
Tenderly is a touch darker than Hold Me Now, but they are quite similar in colour and in texture. I actually really love how I Put a Spell on You looks in photos, but if you saw me in person, it would look a bit too pastel.
That’s it for my picks of the lipstick colours I wish I could wear. I hope these swatches have been helpful for you. I’m going to end the year on a good note! Come back next week to see my favourites, featuring some luxury skincare and beautiful lipsticks!
