Lepaar Review – Yuzu Vitamin C Serum & Zen Matcha Cashmere

I’m back with one of my favourite skincare brands, Lepaar! I’m completely biased but I love reviewing them because I love their potent ingredients. Rather than wowing with gimicky spiels, they win me over with how knowledgable they are and a willingness to commit to full transparency. They’re so honest about all their ingredients & processes, I truly trust that I’m paying for quality and making ethical choices.

Every time I email Johanna, she’s amazingly helpful. I even requested a bigger size of the Velvet Sole Lip Balm and she was more than happy to make one for me. When I’m consistent with their line, my skin improves remarkably well, regardless of what breakouts I’d had prior. I’ve been loving their Precious Face Elixir and Velvet Sole Lip Balm as my moisturizing step, so I just had to try more.

I’ve been on the fence about vitamin C in skincare. The reason why, is because it can be unstable, breaking down to the exposure of light and oxygen. There are many forms of it as well and unless companies are forthcoming, you just don’t know what you’re buying.

Lepaar not only grow their own Yuzu, but they extract the vitamin c from the peel over 3-4 months. They say this results in a less unstable extract that doesn’t decompose as easily and doesn’t need an army of preservatives either! Not only that, but the vitamin C is second on the list. Many reputable skincare lines don’t have it at such high concentrations!

I started by smoothing one drop onto a freshly cleansed face and it was too strong for me, so I had to give my skin a break. I tried again, by adding less than one drop into my Precious Face Elixir. It doesn’t have a strong scent, so I can still enjoy the intoxicating scent.

At first I didn’t notice it much but now I can see and feel the improvement. It smooths my skin and it looks brighter overall, without feeling sensitive. It’s especially noticeable when I wear makeup and oddly enough, when I wash my face. Whenever I wear makeup, my skin looks so good, not only in how bright and clear it is, but also because my foundation sits so smoothly! I can also feel how soft my face feels when I clean it, and it’s a little thing but it feels so much nicer!

I add a full drop, every morning and night and my skin is almost back to it’s best. If you want to try vitamin c, I highly, highly recommend this one.

The consistency of this is so interesting. It’s velvety, light green, but it’s an oil serum. I’m set on my current serums, so I’ve actually been using this as a mask. Johanna recommends washing your face, patting it dry and then applying 5-10 drops of this all over. I let it sit for about half and hour, then wipe it off with warm water and a cloth.

The first time I did this, I was surprised by how immediate the effects were! My skin felt nourished and soft. I added my favourite serums to my face immediately afterwards, but left my neck and chest bare. The next morning, my chest and neck still felt soft, as if I’d used a heavy duty cream. In fact it stayed that way the entire day!

I use this now as my moisture mask, all the way down to my chest. It’s perfect as that extra pampering step, one that feels worth it because of how soft my skin is afterwards.

Elemental Surf Paste / 18% Non-Nano Zinc Active Outdoor Balm – $65.00 AUD for 50ml / 1.7fl oz

Johanna added a sample of this paste with my order, so I was able to try it out. It’s a fair bit thicker than the Elemental Day Silk, so I probably wouldn’t ever use it on my face. That said, I pop the little tub into my bag and use it on my hands and arms if I’m out. I took it on a hike and it kept me from tanning, so it’s definitely effective.

So that’s it for my thoughts on this amazing brand. I’ve already discovered how much I love their serums, but still their products continue to surprise me. There is more in this range I still want to try so you can bet there will be another review on the way!
