It’s been a busy few weeks, so I haven’t been able to blog as much as I’d like, so I thought I’d quickly post about a new Beauty Subscription box I discovered. As always, I’m late to the party but it’s such a good one, I had to share it.
Laurel and Reed offer a monthly subscription box with only natural and organic, non-toxic and cruelty free products. You can purchase a one time box for $59.95 USD, month to month for $54.95, 3 month for $143.85, 6 month for $275.70 or 12 month for $527.40.
They have many brands which I’d love to try, so I’ve definitely been keeping an eye on their announcements for upcoming boxes. The best part though, is that they sell any past boxes for $59.95, which can work out to be a fantastic deal. They promise that every box has a minimum value of at least $125. The one I decided to treat myself to was their Okoko Cosmétiques box. It included the L’élixir de Pureté (Red Label), Beauté Majestique Gel-to-Milk Cleanser and Diamant Bleu. If I were to purchase them separately it would have cost me $444.00.
Quite a few items from Okoko Cosmétiques have impressed me so I’ve been wanting to repurchase a couple of things. L’élixir de Pureté was one of them, while the Beauté Majestique was a bonus that I wouldn’t go out of my way to restock. I do enjoy it as a weekly exfoliant but I like to avoid over exfoliating these days. The final item is one I have been curious about; the Diamant Bleu. I will mention that they do include quite fragrant essential oils, especially vanilla, blue tansy and bergamot. I can only use them when my skin barrier is strong otherwise they can irritate me. The smell is strong for me personally but it does go away.
As I’ve already reviewed the Beauté Majestique cleanser and L’élixir de Pureté, I think I’ll just update this post with my thoughts of the Diamant Bleu after I’ve finished it.
The Diamant Bleu is an all-in-one clarifying face cream that also hydrates and calms skin. The ingredients include encapsulated niacinamide and cinnamon, willow bark extract, ceramides and blue tansy. It has a similar scent to most Okoko products. I notice the blue tansy the most, with notes of sweet vanilla.
It has an interesting texture. At first I thought it had dried out. It’s actually a little mousse like and it doesn’t feel even though the send ingredient is babassu oil. I really do like (and am surprised) that it has a matte finish. Most of my serums leave me oily and it’s fine at night, but I have been interested in something matte for day time. I’m interested to see how it wears under makeup, throughout the day and if it’s hydrating enough.
Overall I’m glad I splurged on this box. Okoko Cosmétiques is one of those brands I really like, but the steep price can make it very hard to justify repurchasing! I’m also pretty excited that I’ve found another subscription service as I’m always looking for ways to save money when restocking my skincare. It does take a little while for shipping but it’s to be expected as I’m in Australia.
