Over the years I seem to keep coming back to one of my favourite brands: Kjaer Weis. I really like many of their shades and that they are refillable. They’ve even released their iconic red packaging as refillable, which is a great option for lighter travel. I like to keep an eye on all their new releases but I’ve also collected a few more items from their range. I thought I’d put together a quick swatch post with some updated thoughts.
Eye Pencil in Bright, Brown & Black
I’ve had the brown and black in my routine for a while as they’re always great for adding definition. I use the brown when I want softer eye makeup and the black moreso for my eyebrows. I purchased Bright mostly for my wedding. As it’s a light, peachy nude it’s not as stark as a white liner and it helps brighten the my water line to make my eyes look bigger. I do find that none of them really last very long though I wouldn’t really expect them to. I do have to be careful to only line the tops of my lashes though otherwise they can end up smudging too much.
Eyeshadow in Charmed, Grace, Earthy Calm, Generosity
I use Grace and Generosity all the time for building depth and lining my eyes, but Charmed and Earthy Calm not so much. I like the colour of Grace but it’s either the formula is slightly different or it’s been pressed differently as there is a hard layer over the top. I scrape it off but it doesn’t really seem to help. The reason I don’t use Earthy Calm is because of the red undertone. I find it makes me look sick so I avoid these shades.
Cream Glow in Dazzling
This is the cream bronzer in a cool tone, which can also double as a contour shade. I personally find it leans warm, so I wouldn’t think it’s the best shade for contour. It’s also quite shimmery so it’s nice for adding a sun touch glow. It’s a slightly different formula to the blushes. They can feel slightly powdery as the dry down a little, but this stays pretty dewy. I actually prefer it as a cream eyeshadow. The pigment payoff is nice, not too opaque so it’s blendable.
Translucent Powder
I’m a little uncertain about how I feel with this powder. It’s nice and light, works well at toning down shine but it doesn’t do a good job at controlling it. I feel like it’s unnecessary if it’s not going to keep my skin matte but it does leave my skin with a nice air brushed look temporarily. It was just a sample so I don’t think I’d purchase a full one.
Lipstick in Affection
I have come around on the Kjaer Weis lipsticks as I feel more confident wearing a drier formula that doesn’t end up on my teeth or bleeding past my lip line. If you have very dry lips though, I wouldn’t recommend them as they’re not waxy enough to be forgiving on dry patches. Though it’s described as a faded raspberry pink, I already have the gloss with a similar shade description so I thought they’d compliment each other. This is a touch too pink for my liking so not quite the match I was hoping for.
I do have my eyes on some more from Kjaer Weis, though I am sad that a lot of their recent releases all seem to have parfum included. I know that theirs is a blend of essential oils but I haven’t been able to test them in store to see how strong it is. In any case, I hope you enjoyed this weeks post. I’ll link all my Kjaer Weis posts below in case there are other shades or products you’re interested in.
