This week, I have quite a lot of products from Claribel skincare to go through.

I’ve bought various items over quite a lengthy period and since I’ve been trying them for a while, I’ve definitely been able to find some favourites.

Skin Lightening Lotion

I’ve repurchased this every time I order, so that’s a good indication it’s one of my favourites. It’s a very light, non-sticky lotion that rubs in easily but doesn’t dry completely matte. I haven’t noticed a dramatic change to my skin in terms of lightening but I do believe it keeps it looking fresh and more luminous. It’s lightly, lightly scented with lemon, which makes it perfect for applying every morning. My mineral makeup sits very well over the top.

Acne Treatment Serum

Ingredients:

Aloe, Bearberry Extract, Centella Asiatica, Cinnamon Extract, Elderberry Extract, Galangal Extract, Green Tea Caffeine, Horse Chestnut, Hyaluronic Acid, Lactobacillus Ferment, Lecithin, Lutein, Lycopene, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Melatonin, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Rose Essential Oil, Sea Kelp Bioferment, Tea Tree Essential Oil, Vegetable Glycerin, Willow Bark Extract, Zinc

I didn’t like this the first few times I used it. It felt like it was burning my skin on contact and the Tea Tree Oil, combined with the Willow Bark scent was just too strong. It gave me a little eczema patch above my eye, which I had to treat with a heavy duty balm. I was really battling with terrible skin when I was testing this, so I persisted and now I love it. It really saved my skin. The burning sensation has also lessened now, so I can only assume I had to acclimatize to the tea tree oil. The main reason I didn’t stop trying is because while it felt strong, it never actually damaged my skin where I applied it. It really has transformed my skin.

Acne Treatment Powder

Ingredients:

Bearberry Extract, Green Tea Extract, Lavender Essential Oil, Licorice Root, Niacinamide, Willow Bark Extract

I don’t notice a huge difference when using this powder. I use it mixed in with my normal cream cleanser, as well as masks or other face scrubs. I’ve been using it in conjunction with the two other acne treatments and they are effective on their own, so I think this would be a good addition if you can’t use the other products and want a boost to your existing skincare.

High Potency Chemical Peel Serum

Ingredients:

Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Aloe Vera, Citric acid, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Geranium Essential Oil, Glycolic Acid, Grapeseed Oil, Liquid Leucidal, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Shea Nilotica Butter, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA), Vaccinium Myrtillus (Bilberry) Fruit Extract, Vegetable Ewax

This stings a little during application and it leaves a sticky residue so it’s better used at night time. I’ve prefer using other methods of chemical peels, ones that you can wash off so I don’t think I’ll repurchase

Natural Lip Balm

Alpha Lipoic Acid, Argan Oil, Candelilla Wax, Cinnamon Essential Oil, DMAE, Grapeseed Oil, Honey, Hyaluronic Acid, Jojoba Oil, Lactobacillus Ferment, Lecithin, Lycopene, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Mango Butter, Mica, Niacinamide, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Tocopherol, Tripeptides, Vegetable Glycerin, Vitamin C, Vitamin E

When I first tried this, I found it very gritty and I put it away for a little. I’ve just started using it again and I like it a lot more now. For me it’s best to smooth a little amount on because the colour doesn’t really suit me. It has a very slight silver sheen to the red, but when it’s lightly applied it turns my lips a beautiful, soft pink. It has a slight sweet smell and doesn’t feel thick, sticky or heavy.

Natural Acne Cleanser

Aloe Vera, Bearberry Extract, Willow Bark Extract, Castile Vegetable Based, Cinnamon Extract, Galangal Extract, Green Tea Extract, Lactobacillus Ferment, Lecithin, Lemongrass Essential Oil, Salicylic Acid, Sea Kelp Bioferment, Vegetable Glycerin, Tea Tree Essential Oil, Zinc

I had the same adjustment period to this as I did with the Acne Treatment Serum. It’s a very thin, watery formula and it seems to work best when you lather it in your hands first and then apply it to damp skin. Otherwise I don’t think it lathers well enough. I always clean with a cream cleanser before using this, as it really needs to be able to penetrate your skin. Again, this product absolutely saved my skin. It also leaves it feeling so much smoother than any other cleanser or even exfoliant. Now that I can use this daily, I love how it’s changed my skin.

Natural Acne Face Mask

Bearberry Extract, Betulinic Acid, Bulgarian Lavender Essential Oil, Calendula Flowers, Chamomile Flowers, Silymarin, White Kaolin Clay

I don’t notice a huge difference when I use this either. It’s nice to have different cleansing options now and then, but I don’t love the chunky bits of flowers. It just makes it crumble off your skin when you use it. I do think it cleans your skin effectively, but you still need to remove makeup prior to using this.

Pomegranate & Star Fruit Enzyme Peel

$15.98 USD for 1.3 oz

Ingredients:

Aloe Vera Gel, Fermented Vegetable Natural Preservative, Lactic Acid, Pomegranate Fruit Enzyme, Starfruit Acid, Vegetable Glycerin

This has a much milder smell than their other peel. I think they’re as effective as each other, but I do like the smell of this one better. It’s a very watery formula and you can smooth it on, go about your business and then rinse it off. I find that you need to be consistent with application, because the results aren’t immediate like a physical exfoliant.

Firming Face Mask

Ingredients:

Dead Sea Mud, Dead Sea Salt, DMAE, Frankincense Essential Oil, French Green Clay, Green Tea Caffeine, Helichrysum, Hyaluronic Acid, Lemongrass Essential Oil, Myrrh Essential Oil, Norwegian Sea Kelp, Rice Powder

The frankincense and myrrh are just too strong for me. I don’t like using this as a cleanser or exfoliant. When you mix it with water it almost dissolves too much, but if you don’t use enough water it’s too crumbly to apply to your skin. I also found that this breaks me out for some reason. It might be the dead sea mud. I always have trouble with mud masks.

Microdermabrasion Face Scrub

$16.98 USD for 2.4 oz

Ingredients:

Aloe Vera, Castile (Organic and Vegan), Lecithin, Mandarin Essential Oil, Microdermabrasion Crystals, Peach Kernel Oil, Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil, Shea Butter, Vegetable Emulsifying Wax, Vegetable Glycerin

I don’t like this because the microdermabrasion beads are a little scratchy and they are incredibly hard to wash off properly. The formula somehow sticks it to your skin. I tried washing my skin again with my cream cleanser and still felt that I could feel beads scratching my face when I dried my skin. I eventually gave up using this, so I think I will use the rest up on my legs.

Glycolic Body Lotion

$26.98 USD for 4.4 oz.

Ingredients:

Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Aloe Vera, Argan Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange), Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Coconut Oil, Fermented Coconut Fruit Natural Preservative, Fermented Vegetable Natural Preservative, Fruit Extract, Glucosamine, Glycolic Acid, Grapeseed Oil, Lactobacillus Ferment, Natural Essential Oils, Niacinamide, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Shea Butter, Tocopherol, Vaccinium Myrtillus (Bilberry) Fruit Extract, Vegetable Ewax, Vegetable Glycerin

As a moisturiser this works very well, I just don’t like the sticky residue it leaves on my hands and anywhere I’ve applied it. I much prefer their other Skin Lightening Lotion as it doesn’t have that residue. You are able to choose your scent and I chose the Grapefruit and Yuzu one. It’s very fresh and zesty and thankfully not too strong. I wouldn’t purchase this again, just because I can’t stand the stickiness.
